This Weeks Family News Update
Week in Review - March 7th, 2025
Richmond Public School
This past week was marked by high energy and positive outcomes. Our students have demonstrated remarkable engagement in a variety of experiential learning initiatives, fostering valuable collaborative skills. It has been particularly gratifying to observe the enthusiasm with which they have embraced these hands-on opportunities. Furthermore, we have continued to emphasize and celebrate acts of kindness throughout the school community, cultivating a positive and supportive environment.
This week's highlight was undoubtedly our Winter Fun Day, a spectacular collaboration with our neighbours at South Carleton High School. Seeing our kindergarten to grade 5 students team up and move through exciting outdoor stations was pure magic. The fact that the activities were designed and run by the high school students made it even more special. The infectious energy and leadership they brought were truly inspiring, and our RPS students soaked it all in. Our own grade 4 and 5 students also stepped up, demonstrating impressive leadership skills throughout the day. Be sure to ask your child about their Winter Fun Day experience – I'm certain they have some wonderful stories to share!
As we head into March Break, I want to wish you all a wonderful and safe week. Whether you're planning exciting adventures, cozying up at home, or simply enjoying some much-needed downtime, I hope this break provides a chance to recharge and create lasting memories. Please remember there is no school next week. We'll be eagerly awaiting your return on Monday, March 17th, ready to dive back into learning and fun!
OCDSB Program Review
We understand you may have questions and concerns. The proposed changes do not impact the 2025-2026 school year starting this September. The decision regarding the proposed elementary program model will be made by the Board of Trustees in April of this year.
We encourage you to provide your feedback either through our online survey or join us at the in-person and virtual community meetings. You can join us at our in-person Community Meetings on March 6th and 17th, and the virtual one on March 24th. Location, time and other details are available on Engage.ocdsb.ca. Your feedback is valuable and will help the Board of Trustees make an informed decision about the proposed model.
Building the Bridge--February Edition
The board has put together a great document for each grade that highlights each subject area and offers some effective strategies and suggestions on how parents can support their child’s learning. Please click on the grade you want to look at!
