This Weeks Family News Update

Richmond Public  School- Week in Review - Feb 21st, 2025

Welcome back from a hopefully restful long weekend! It was wonderful to see everyone refreshed and ready to dive into a fun-filled day back at school. We celebrated Valentine's Day with a focus on community and kindness, enjoying engaging classroom activities and some exciting whole-school events. From "Name That Love Tune" to Valentine's Bingo with prizes, there was no shortage of fun and laughter. While indoor recesses continued due to the weather, our students' creativity shone through as they enjoyed  playing in their classrooms. Learning continued in the hallways with interactive curriculum-based tasks, and we're thrilled to welcome our new co-op students from South Carleton, along with a new learning partnership connecting a primary class and a grade 11 class. Our extracurriculars continued, including Art Club, Sign Language Club, Basketball, Drama Club, Leaders, and Lego Club, also continued to thrive. RPS is a great place to be every day!

Toonie Tuesday for the Education Foundation… Feb 25th

Get ready to make a difference, RPS families! This coming Tuesday, February 26th, is Toonie Tuesday, and we're teaming up with the Ottawa Education Foundation to support OCDSB families and students. We've got a fun-filled day planned to raise those toonies! Find some literary treasures at our Previously Loved Book Sale for just $1 each, or capture a heartwarming moment with our "Who's Your Reading Buddy?" photo fun for a toonie donation – share a picture of you reading with your favorite pal (furry, stuffed, or human!) and be part of our slideshow. Our amazing RPS staff are also getting in on the action with a fundraising $10 luncheon and a garage sale (clothing and teacher resources), with all proceeds going directly to the Foundation. Every toonie counts, and together, we can make a real impact on our community. Let’s show our RPS spirit and support our OCDSB families! Please see the additional details in the infographic attached HERE for important information.

Pink Shirt Day  & Kindness Week

Get ready to spread some kindness! Next week is Kindness Week at RPS, and we have a jam-packed schedule of activities to celebrate! It all kicks off on Monday & Tuesday (Toonie Tuesday activities) with teachers leading their own classroom kindness activities. Wednesday, we'll connect with our paired classes to create a whole-school kindness pledge chain. Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day, so wear your pink to stand against bullying! On Thursday, a shared special public service announcement about protective factors against bullying. Finally, on Friday, we'll team up with our paired classes again to create kindness bracelets with pre-made words like "share smiles" and "be kind." Get ready to spread the love and make RPSl even brighter while taking a stand and creating awareness of  bullying!
