With the heat advisory this week I will update planning for each day in the morning.  Please find the following helpful information:

Monday June 23rd:

Just wanted to share that we will be having an inclement weather schedule for Monday all day that students will not be outdoors for recess at this time and will follow an indoor recess plan in the classroom.  Kinders will also not be outdoors for the outdoor learning block at this time as well educators will plan to support our students indoors. Students will be outdoors at arrival and at dismissal for the 15 mins and we will not be having any recess equipment (ie balls, skipping) or running at this block.  Gym activities will be indoors today as well, if outdoor gym teachers choose to take the class out to sit in the shade to enjoy some very quiet learning (i.e. read aloud) for a very short period of time this may be explored today.  We have made announcements for lots of drink breaks and to remain hydrated with no vigorous exercise today.  

Tuesday June 24th

Sharing that we will continue having an inclement weather schedule for Tuesday all day that students will not be outdoors for recess at this time and will follow an indoor recess plan in the classroom.  Kinders will also not be outdoors for the outdoor learning block at this time as well educators will plan to support our students indoors. We also are moving forward with our Grade 5 Leaving ceremony today as planned.  A reminder of a strict 2 person per student guide due to the fire code restrictions doors will open at 1240pm - pls do not come earlier to avoid waiting outdoors for any period of time.The service will begin at 1pm.  Families are encouraged to dress for the weather to remain cool. Students and families will be able to bring water bottles to place under chairs if they wish to do so.  

Wednesday and the Remainder of this Week (June 25-27th)

We will finally return to regular recess and outdoor learning activities (such as Outdoor Gym & DPA) with the break in the heat and humidity!  This is exciting as students are eager to spend the last few days of school with their peers out on the recess yard!  

Thank you for the flexibility this week as we navigated record highs in temperature and humidity this past week.
